What inspired your latest story?
If you’re not acquainted with this portion of American geography, the term “Four Corners” refers to the only place in the United States where four states meet at a single geographical point: those four semi-square states out west, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah.
Carla Gade, Susan Page Davis and I each took a separate event in the establishment of the Four Corners National Monument as a starting point for our stories and wrote about three of the four states. (Susan’s story is Desert Moon.) Carla’s story covered the surveying of the state boundary lines and the exact location of the corner. My hero and heroine visit to the brand-new marker at four corners in 1900.
At that time, the motion picture industry was in its very early stages. One of the first movies was filmed in New Mexico. In Pride’s Fall, Rex Pride films a silent film in Mesa Verse, Colorado.
What are some of your favorite novels (or your favorite novelists) and why?
Besides my dog-eared copies of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, lol?
I’ve been a fan of mysteries ever since I discovered Nancy Drew, and most of my favorite authors write in that genre. Dick Francis, now deceased, is the best I have ever read. How about Dorothy L. Sayers, Nancy Pickard, Scott William Carter? I love them for unforgettable characters, and the way their mysteries explore the human condition.
What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Having written? LOL. I love the creativity, pulling together threads of character, history, words, experience, into a unique tale that I can share with others. I love sharing what I’ve written.
Who would you cast as the hero and heroine of your latest release?
Definitely a young Meryl Streep to play my heroine, Muriel.
This actor looks like Rex, but I can’t discover his name!

About Pride’s Fall
Take two. . .
Ancient cliff dwellings peppered throughout the Four Corners region make the perfect setting for ambitious filmmaker Rex Pride’s latest project. Now if only he could get the local Navajo extras, the weather, and his leading actress, Muriel Gallagher, to bring his vision to the screen.
Muriel knows Rex demands perfection. And it’s hard for her to deny his genius in bringing stories to life on film—and just as hard not to admire his accomplishments in pushing the boundaries of filmmaking. But his seemingly relentless demands and arrogance are also hard to endure. Especially when Muriel longs to succeed in her role and to share her faith with the Navajo—and Rex.
Will Muriel’s sincere desire to lead others to Christ be overshadowed by the harsh surroundings and her own fierce pride in western Christianity? Will Rex’s pride keep him from seeing his need for God—and from receiving the love of a godly woman?
